IMPRESS - THE PERFECT FLOW

Agriculture needs visionaries

The inventor Thomas A. Edison once said, "If there is a way to do it better, find it." That is exactly what we at PÖTTINGER have done. As farmers, we at PÖTTINGER know what really matters. As we have done for more than 140 years. With our knowledge, we set industry standards. With our expertise, we define quality. We live for agricultural technology.

The conditions and challenges of farming have evolved. That is why it is our instinct to rethink established systems: with the PÖTTINGER IMPRESS round baler we enhance the farmer's quality of life with safe and convenient operation and their livestock's quality of life with the best forage quality. Regardless of whether in wet or dry conditions, for straw, hay or silage - the IMPRESS is a machine for all operating conditions.

Best forage quality is our objective: ensured thanks to improved crop flow and a short chop system unique among round balers. Conventional round balers feed the crop under the rotor into the bale chamber. The PÖTTINGER IMPRESS rethinks the established crop flow system. The overhead LIFTUP rotor feeds the crop tangentially - at an optimised angle - into the bale chamber. The perfect flow system conserves the crop with very low disintegration losses.

  • FORAGE QUALITY

Loader wagon chopping quality available on round balers for the first time

FORAGE QUALITY

Best forage in every situation. With the PÖTTINGER IMPRESS we can guarantee the best possible handling of every crop: silage, hay or straw. We redefine established systems and provide loader wagon chopping quality on round balers for the first time - for the highest possible forage quality.

With their innovative LIFTUP rotor, the new round balers convey the forage upwards into the chopping system. The crop therefore passes over the rotor and not under the rotor as on conventional round balers.

As a result the crop flows at an optimised angle into the bale chamber to increase intake capacity, which translates into high baling performance with very low disintegration losses. In combination with the FLEXCUT 32 short chop system with up to 32 knives and proven individual knife protection system, the IMPRESS guarantees the very best bale quality.

Ground tracking & crop take-up

Maximum crop collection performance thanks to the floating pick-up system:

With the PÖTTINGER IMPRESS we guarantee the best take-up. Five rows of tines ensure that crop is collected reliably with large intake volumes, even at high forward speeds in difficult harvest conditions. Two jointed support arms ensure the pick-up has complete freedom of movement. Height-adjustable trailed jockey wheels contact the ground on precisely the same line as the tines to ensure perfect ground tracking and cornering. For working in straw, the IMPRESS features an 8-fold adjustment system for optimising the height of the floating pick-up. .

  • Unique travel of 120 mm at the tines.
  • Perfect ground tracking and exact contouring.
  • Clean forage for best silage quality.
Unique crop flow:

a swath roller with a diameter of 200 mm and transfer rods guarantee the best flow at high speeds with any crop. On both sides of the IMPRESS there are two cross conveyor augers to ensure optimum feeding.

With the IMPRESS we ensure that livestock get the best forage - without contamination. The pick-up is controlled from both ends by a steel cam track. The sealed twin-race roller bearings on the cam rollers are designed to withstand high stresses. The pick-up tines are controlled in a sweeping arc. This results in optimum protection of the sward, lower levels of soil contamination and prevents unnecessary wear to the tines.

  • Clean forage thanks to controlled tine movement.
  • Reliable transfer to the rotor in all conditions thanks to fully active tine length up to withdrawal point.
  • Better chopping quality: the forage is actively fed into the rotor (rather than being dragged through), resulting in less longitudinal alignment of stalks.

Uniform chopping quality

Best quality at lower costs:
The IMPRESS features the new, pull-out FLEXCUT 32 chopping system. This consists of 32 TWINBLADE reversible knives with NONSTOP individual knife protection system to provide a theoretical chopped length of 36 mm across the entire rotor width.

The shorter chop length enables higher compression of the crop and thus higher bale density with all harvest material (silage, hay, straw). This is a significant advantage because less storage space and less handling is required. Storage and transport costs are reduced as a result.

Up to 16 knives can be removed from the knife bank to produce different chopping results. These knives are always active when the knife bank is swung into position. The knives on the shaft can be pivoted either in or out. No dummy knives are required on this system when fewer knives are selected.

  • The knives are divided between two shafts.
  • TWINBLADE reversible knives – replacement knives are always on-board.
  • The knives are produced from hardened tool steel and their pressed serrated edge ensures a precise chop.
  • Individual knife protection system with click springs.

Short-chop

The IMPRESS delivers a uniformly short chopped length, which is a major advantage for silage, for example, ensuring a homogenous structure that requires less intensive mixing when using feed mixing wagons. This also has a positive effect on the fermentation stability and as a result on the quality of the forage. With straw, short chopped straw for adding to feed and for bedding - with a minimal extra power requirement - becomes a reality with the IMPRESS. We have managed to integrate loader wagon chop quality into round balers for the first time. Short chop - not just for silage, but also for hay and straw - makes the IMPRESS unique on the market.

Bale quality

The innovative LIFTUP rotor on the PÖTTINGER IMPRESS enables high baling capacity, while the bale chamber is fed with a uniformly wide blanket of crop. The farmer benefits in every way: the weaving needed to produce perfectly shaped bales is greatly reduced. The result is greater convenience for the driver and better shaped bales.

  • On variable chamber balers, the bale density can be variably set using the baling pressure and adjusted to the properties of the material to be baled. This ensures high bale quality for every harvest material.
  • The fixed chamber baler has large self-aligning bearings with a diameter of 50 mm and has two different types of compression rollers to the front and rear to ensure reliable rotation of the bale with every crop - the requirement for high quality bales.

  • VERSATILE APPLICATIONS

    Agriculture needs reliability

VERSATILE APPLICATIONS

Agriculture needs reliability. Regardless of whether the sun is shining or it is raining, regardless of whether baling straw, hay or silage - the reliability of round balers in all operating conditions is something that has always been an issue. At PÖTTINGER we cannot claim to be in control of the weather, but we are definitely in control of the functionality of our machines.

Suitable for all crop types

During the development of the new IMPRESS we placed great emphasis on versatility: tangential crop flow into the bale chamber, optimised bale starting volume, and two lower starter rollers on the variable chamber models to ensure a reliable start to the bale with all 32 knives in action, in all operating conditions. Regardless of whether in wet or dry conditions, for straw, hay or silage - the PÖTTINGER IMPRESS is a machine for all operating conditions. And is consequently unique on the market.

High capacity performance

Best performance, anywhere, any time: the PÖTTINGER floating pick-up guarantees maximum intake. Five rows of tines ensure that crop is collected reliably with large intake volumes, even at high forward speeds in difficult harvest conditions. The highest capacity is also promoted by the innovative LIFTUP overhead rotor and rethinking the crop flow on the IMPRESS has many advantages. In addition to the perfect flow of the crop, LIFTUP technology - with the patented spiral configuration of the rotor tines and the integrated cleaning rotor - produces a high baling capacity with very low disintegration losses. If a blockage occurs, the cross section of the throat can be increased temporarily on IMPRESS models by lowering vertically the chopping system floor. This allows the blockage to clear easily and effortlessly.

Flexible soft core setting on variable round balers

On variable chamber models, the bale pressure can be adjusted in three separate zones (also equipped with a soft core setting) to ideally adapt to individual requirements. The PRO series has 6 preselects for different parameters when baling hay, straw or silage.

The bale chamber has three endless belts. The belt tensioner makes it possible to control variable compression for the bale core, middle zone and outer zone. This makes it possible to produce an extremely wide range of high-stability bales of different diameters with soft or medium-compact cores, compact or soft middle zones and high density outer zones.

    Agriculture needs easier operation

CONVENIENCE

Agriculture needs easier operation. As experts, we at PÖTTINGER face the challenges you find in the field every day. While we cannot relieve our farmers of their work, we can make it easier. We do that by redefining the quality of life with our innovative standards. Because performance and convenience are not mutually exclusive. In fact, with the IMPRESS round baler they complement each other perfectly.

Pull-out knife bank

The IMPRESS features a swing-out chopping system with the proven EASY MOVE pull-out knife bank. This represents the highest level of convenience: maintenance is performed at workbench height outside the bale chamber. We know from experience that the higher the number of knives, the greater the importance the ease of maintenance becomes. With the IMPRESS, maintenance is a cake walk. Another innovation is the use of TWINBLADE reversible knives, which provide double the service life. Now it is no longer necessary to sharpen knives during a day's work.

How it works - It's so easy with an IMPRESS
  • Lower the pick-up and swing out the chopping system hydraulically.
  • Remove cylinder, release knife bank and pull out.
  • Rotate knife shaft. The knife bank is secured in position and the knives released centrally.
Safe, convenient, time-saving
  • The knives can be reversed or replaced quickly and easily.
  • Rotate the knife shaft back again to lock them in place. The knife bank is now ready to be pushed back in.
  • Push in the knife bank, secure, attach cylinder, swing chopping system back in - job done!

Reduced weaving

Well-formed bales are usually associated with having to weave to the left and right to make sure that the bale chamber is fed evenly. With the unique LIFTUP overhead rotor on the IMPRESS round baler, this style of driving is a thing of the past. Thanks to this innovative technology, the bale chamber is fed more uniformly across the whole width so that weaving can be virtually eliminated. This really takes the stress out of driving. In addition, the bale always starts to form reliably in any situation, even if the harvest material is damp or very dry.

Details

Works first time, every time

Striving for reliable solutions is reflected in our ongoing technological developments. With the PÖTTINGER IMPRESS we ensure that every raw material is processed in the best way possible - in every situation. Tangential crop flow into the bale chamber, optimised bale starting volume, and two lower starter rollers on the variable chamber models to ensure a reliable start to the bale with all 32 knives in action, in all operating conditions. The innovative LIFTUP overhead rotor makes it possible.

Less Contamination

The overhead LIFTUP rotor with its patented spiral configuration of tines feeds the crop into the bale chamber tangentially in a wide blanket. This method promotes a flow that conserves the crop with very low disintegration losses. Any material that does fall through is fed back into the flow by the cleaning rotor located directly above the throat. This is a unique design that solves the problem of disintegration of material with a higher number of knives. If a blockage occurs, the cross section of the throat can be increased temporarily on IMPRESS models by lowering vertically the chopping system floor. This allows the blockage to clear easily and effortlessly.

Because the chopping system is positioned above, it is less sensitive towards contamination. Disintegration losses fall downwards without affecting the knife protection system like on conventional systems.
